Music video conventions

The two music video conventions that I am choosing to discuss are the different types of shots involved, and also the setting.

In a music video, the different angles shown when shooting are used for several reasons. They use them to not make the video feel boring as if it was shot at the same angle all the time it would begin to feel like you have already seen it. I gives the video more variation into what they can do for an effect. Music videos are also shown at different angles so we can see a different perspective on things. This would most likely be done if the video involved a story as it could present the different events and feelings. The variated camera angles and shots give the video more excitement and a different perspective on things from the audiences view.

The setting in a music video is also very important if you want it to be successful. If there isn't visually anything to look at then the point of the music video is pointless. The audience want to watch something and feel engaged with the music in a different way. The setting is important as it can give a chance for the artist to show what the song represents in a visual way rather than through sound. The more interesting and making sure there is always something being shown, the more the viewer will like the song and video. It keeps them engaged and wanting to keep listening to the song therefore, the setting during a music video is vital for it succeed.
