Music video conventions

All music videos follow certain conventions, which make the video come across better. Some of these conventions include: different shot types, the pace of video, costumes within the video, settings, and the movements or gestures that the actors/singers use. These conventions tend to link with the meaning of the song, the lyrics, genre and what type of artist the song is written by.

Sing For Tomorrow
Shot types: Long shots, mid-shot and close ups.
Costume: Normal clothes (jeans, sweatshirt, jacket etc.) and jail clothing.
Setting: Deserted open space and a jail cell.
Movement/gestures: Quite a lot of hand gestures and movement throughout the song.

Rather Be
Shot types: Extreme close ups, mid-shot, close ups and long shots.
Costume: Normal clothes( skirt, t-shirt etc.) and also a chef's outfit.
Setting: A fish market, a busy town, a restaurant and a house.
Movement/gestures: No hand gestures. Quite a lot of movement.

Too Young
Shot types: Long shots, mid-shot, and close ups.
Costume: Normal clothes (chinos, t -shirt and trainers)
Setting: Open grass area and the streets.
Movement/gestures: A lot of hand gestures throughout and movement.

Mockingbird
Shot types: Long shots, mid-shot, extreme close ups and close ups.
Costume: Normal clothes (jumper, jeans and t-shirt).
Setting: Mini cinema and video tape footage.
Movement/gestures: Not much movement or gestures.

No Regrets
Shot types: Long shots, extreme close ups and close ups.
Costume: Normal clothes (A hat, jeans, hoodie and t-shirt) and also a suit.
Setting: In the front garden of a house, on the roof of a building, in a home and in an alleyway.
Movement/gestures: Not much movement and a few hand gestures.
